The 1990s was, on Earth's calendar, the tenth and final decade of the 24th century. Although this was a time period before Human formulation of stardates, this era ranges from stardates 1990.0 to 1999.[1]
Years[]
Events of unspecified dates[]
- Events taking place from reference stardate -1/80 cannot always logically be corresponded to modern years or canon dates in most cases, so they are listed on that page.
- Earth conducts several bacteriological warfare experiments. According to Dr. McCoy, one of their noted experiments produced an infection which resembles those found on the USS Enterprise crewmembers who visited Omega IV.[2]
- During high school Christopher Brynner receives a Māori tattoo.[3]
- Alfred Bleikoff wins the Nobel Prize in Physics for his theory of the origin of the universe. Bleikoff miss the presentation ceremony in Stockholm, preferring to join a crowd of antiwar protesters. An incurable disease led to him accept an offer of being cryogenically frozen as part of Earth’s first major effort in cryonics. He's frozen and sent adrift in space in a capsule.[4]
- In a alternate universe World War III occours on Earth. The results lead Humans to become less intelligent through the passing centuries, while Primates become the dominant species.[5]

- ↑ TOS comic: "Prophet of Peace" - It was not explicitly stated when Bleikoff won the Nobel Prize, inspired a war to end, fell victim to an incurable disease, or was cryogenically preserved in space, but the elapsed time between these events did not seem that long since he looked the same. McCoy said that Bleikoff's cryogenic capsule "was their first such experiment." A similar cryogenic process was done to several individuals shot into Earth orbit in a spacecraft in 1994, in TNG episode: "The Neutral Zone", so Bleikoff's turn of events would have happened around this time. The war could have been either the Persian Gulf War or the Eugenics War. It is plausible that he won the award in 1990, saw the Persian Gulf War end in 1991, and was put in space by 1994 as the "first major effort in cryonics." It's also plausible that Bleikoff won the award in 1995, saw the Eugenics War end in 1996, then shortly thereafter was put into space, with the first experiment being that of using cryogenics in a coffin-sized capsule rather than a spacecraft. Supporting that possibility, Brand and Chang also participated in a peace movement against the Eugenics War, in TOS comic: "Sceptre of the Sun".
- ↑ TOS comic: "The Primate Directive" - While in the Star Trek universe World War III occoured in the mid-21st century, the Planet of the Apes universe it occoured in the early 1990s.
