- The Klingon Empire incites a civil war on Shad. On the advice of Lieutenant Commander James T. Kirk, King Stevvin and his family evacuate to Orand.[1]
- The USS Discovery is believed to have been destroyed[2] during a battle with Section 31 near Xahea. Captain Christopher Pike, Commanders Una, Ash Tyler and Lieutenant Spock confirm Discovery's demise and agree to keep its specifications on its spore drive and crew secret under penalty of treason.[3] In truth, the Discovery under Commander Saru traveled through the wormhole to The Colony in 3189.[4]

- The Klingon Empire's F5G-subclass, a variant of the QuD-class bird-of-prey, enters service. In particular, the F5B was a refit of the original F5-subclass frigate, classified as a commando frigate.[5]
