- The Deltan people become full members of the United Federation of Planets. [3]
- The Federation colony planet of Cerberus suffers a crop failure described as "catastophic" which almost leads to the deaths of half the planet's population.[4]
- Argylus is stricken by a plague which kill everyone over the age of thirteen. The children build their own civilization with a feudal-looking appearance, complete with castles, warlords, kings and robotic knights, but are unable to find a cure to the plague.[5]
