2290 was a year of the 23rd century. It corresponded to Year of Kahless 915.[1]

Events[]

  • A Klingon civil war is led by Galnor, son of Giogh, in an attempt to depose Chancellor Lorak and claim the seat of the High Council.[2]
  • Pavel Chekov is captured by the Anjiri-Nykuss. He is rescued, but decides to return to his position on the USS Enterprise-A.[3]
  • The Zaldan people develop Warp drive after an analysis of Kimilon technology.[4]
  • The last year of service for Constitution-class starships.[5]
  • The Klingon battle cruiser IKS T'Ong is sent by the Klingon High Command on a high priority mission. For this mission, the crew is placed into cryogenic sleep.[6]
  • Three Klingon battle cruisers, commanded by Kor, Koloth, and Kang, are dispatched to apprehend the Albino. They fail to capture the Albino himself. In revenge, the Albino infects each of the three captain's firstborn sons with a genetic virus that will slowly kill the children.[7]
  • Captain Spock makes a return visit to Talos IV. He had been sent by Starfleet to offer Pike a way to return home. After Phillip attacked Spock out of fear that his father would leave forever, Pike refused the offer, and remained on Talos with his wife and son.[8]
  • According to one account the Oberth class was commissioned in this year.[9]
  • After this year Human entrepreneurs make good use of Rigel II's neutral status and resort facilities to host diplomatic summits and meetings, making it a hub for interstellar affairs.[10]
  • James T. Kirk feels some trepidation as the USS Enterprise-A arrives in orbit of Gribbin II, and he recalls a mission from twenty years earlier.[11]
