The 403rd Patrol Squadron was a 25th century Federation military unit, a patrol squadron in Starfleet service in the 2410s decade. The squadron consisted of four starships and was nicknamed "Crypt-Keepers".
Service history and disposition[]

Starfleet Tactical organized patrol squadrons in the wake of the devastating Iconian War in the year 2410, which left 70% of Starfleet's ships destroyed or needing a major refit. This included the 502nd Patrol Squadron. These squadrons acted as a the long arm of the law and were requisitioned to keep piracy from small powers, remnants and others at bay in the remote colonies of the Federation.
The 502nd was formed of the four starships Durandal, Merrimack, Repulse and Thomas Paine. Their unit patch, established to signify the unit's sense of identity, gave the nickname "Crypt-Keepers" below an image of a hooded Andorian skull. (STO Issue 14: "USS Shran")
