54 Orionis or Coridan was the star sytem of planet Coridan III, the homeworld of the Coridanite civilization.
History and specifics[]
The primary star of this trinary star cluster was also known as "54 Ori" and was a red dwarf star. (ENT episode: "Shadows of P'Jem"; ST reference: Star Charts)
The Coridanites called their star "Desotriana" in their own language. Four other planets in the system were inhabited. (ST reference: The Worlds of the Federation)
- In TNG video game: Birth of the Federation, the orbital configuration of the game map star systems was randomly generated each time a new game started.
- In ST video game: Infinite, the system contained randomly between 3 and 8 planets. A typo misidentified the system as the "Cordian system" in the initial release of Infinite, but patch update 1.0.2 corrected the name to "Coridan". This might be inferred to be an alternate name, possibly referring to the Cordian species from TNG novel: Imzadi.
Alternate timelines[]
In the Kelvin timeline, the Coridan was not a Federation system in 2262, according to Khan Noonien Singh. Lieutenant Marla McGivers convinced Khan that two of his followers, Kati and Otto, were held in this system by Starfleet. (ST video game: Fleet Command mission: "Lessons of the Past")
Objects in orbit[]
- Coridan I
- Coridan II
- Coridan III
- Coridan IV
- two more unnamed objects. (ST video game: Fleet Command)
- Coridan Station (ST video game: Infinite)
