Memory Beta, non-canon Star Trek Wiki

A'Tiak was a 23rd century woman, an officer in Starfleet who served as a communications officer at Deep Space Monitor Station 18 in the 2260s decade.

Biography[]

In 2268, A'Tiak detected a garbled transmission from Captain James T. Kirk, originating from the galactic core 1,170 years ago. Though it seemed impossible, she confirmed its veracity by rescrubbing the signal more than 100 times. Lieutenant Shea helped isolate the signal. Station CO Resnick was hesitant, but Shea insisted that Kirk would want to investigate. When the starship USS Enterprise arrived, A'Tiak sent the signal's data to Commander Spock for analysis. Montgomery Scott verified that her station was working properly, and Nyota Uhura agreed that the message was genuine. Shortly afterward, the Enterprise undertook a mission to trace the signal back to its origin point, Kroy's planet. (TOS - New Visions comic: "Time's Echo")
