In the primary universe, Krenn sutai-Rustazh was both a historical figure and fictionalized 23rd century Klingon man in the 23rd century. He gathered renown within the Klingon Empire and the Federation. (TOS - Worlds Apart novel: The Final Reflection)

During the establishment of the Romulan Republic in the Tau Dewa sector block and the sector block's invasion by the Tholians in 2409, the Krenn was among the mirror universe starships of the Terran Empire, Klingon-Cardassian Alliance and Romulus targeted by the Tholian Assembly. While the Krenn performed flights, sister ships were captured by the Tholians and acquired by the Lobi Crystal Consortium, who sold them to the Khitomer Alliance.
