"A Christmas Carol" is a novel by Charles Dickens. It was later adapted into a holonovel.

In 2371, Jean-Luc Picard was on Qo'noS to discuss the status of the Federation-Klingon alliance with Chancellor Gowron. Picard kept a paper copy of A Christmas Carol on his nightstand. It was most likely planted to give him an opportunity to discuss redemption with Thomas Riker who was posing as Commander William Riker at the time. (TNG novel: Triangle: Imzadi II)
