"A Savage World of Glass and Bone, Part 4" is a comic, the sixteenth issue of the un-subtitled Star Trek series from IDW Publishing. It was released on 17 January 2024.

Description[]

The Tzenkethi Festival of Supremacy has come at a heavy cost for Captain Sisko when members of the Theseus crew members lose their lives to gargantuan beasts. But despite seeing through the battle and warding off the ancient reptilian species, Sisko finds himself overshadowed by the Romulans and their efforts to persuade the Tzenkethi into an alliance. All the while, Cardassia joins the bid to win over the reptilian species in hopes of taking advantage of their new war fleet. Can Sisko convince this cunning yet brute force-favoring species of Starfleet ideals… or do the Federation's foes have a point?

Summary[]

Log entries[]

Personal log, Lily Sato.
I've been really cold. I am supposed to be sleeping. Tomorrow I head back to the planet. Apparently my "experience will be invaluable".
My experience? I lost one of my antennae. It's straight up gone from my head. Feels like it's still there, though. Or rather, it feels... like a little bit of me I didn't know mattered got ripped right out of my soul. Throbbing. Phantom senses, I guess. My whole equilibrium is off. I keep wondering if maybe I can hear ghosts now, since I was almost one myself ...
Second officer's log, supplemental.
Every step into the darkness brings us closer to the instability at the center of the planet. We've been walking for 27 hours. It's the kind of adventure that Jean-Luc Picard experiences every day. Exhilarating and exhausting, pushing me past my limits and challenging my mind... but most of all, it's just dark.
Scotty ran out of complaints somewhere around mile ten. Took another 30 miles for him to run out of jokes. But despite his age, there doesn't seem to be any distance that could make him run out of curiosity.
The instability is only getting worse. If the quakes don't kill us, the collapsing tunnels will. But we know better than to stop now, We're Starfleet officers. To understand the truth... there's nowhere we won't go.
