Aakenn class

The Aakenn-class was a type of Federation class VI freighter starship in the 23rd century, entering service on reference stardate 1/9610. (FASA RPG module: Federation Ship Recognition Manual)

History and specifications[]

At least one variant modification of this design exists where the underslung warp nacelle is not present. (TOS - The Doomsday Bug! comic: "Death Ship!")

Circa 2270, on reference stardate 2/1204, the USS Montgomery was escorting the Aakenn-class freighter QX-12 through the Orion Neutral Zone en route to Starbase 12 when it was ambushed and destroyed by the IKV Falcon, an incident catalogued as the Battle for Freighter QX-12. Background[]

There is probably a USS Aakenn that would be the first vessel of this series, but such a ship has not been referenced in Star Trek publications to date.
TOS - The Doomsday Bug! comic: "Death Ship!" listed the vessel exactly as the preceding FASA RPG module: Federation Ship Recognition Manual had described it, but depicted the vessel with a more generic appearance.
