In the mirror universe, the Adamant class was a 25th century Terran Empire starship type, a tier 6-rated Terran heavy raider class in Imperial Starfleet service in the 2410s decade. The ISS Adamant was the first ship equipped with the agony redistributor device and the Terran repeating warhead launcher experimental weapon. History and technical specifications[]
The Adamant class was a sleek, aggressive vessel and represented the pinnacle of modern Terran engineering. Its design was an evolution of the 24th century Defiant-class. It's livery and hull components were interchangeable with other iterations of the Defiant-class family. This class had entered service in the 2410s. In the year 2411, the Adamant was among several classes duplicated by the Federation for Starfleet and Khitomer Alliance use in the primary universe. Beside the Adamant, the other classes included the Earhart and Engle-class strike wing escorts, Lexington-class dreadnought cruiser, Cygnus-class battlecruiser and the Trailblazer-class science warship. Typically for Imperial Terran starships of its time period, an Adamant-class vessel was equipped with agony phaser beam arrays and a photon torpedo launcher. Specifically, a ship of the class included five forward weapon mounts and one aft, plus one emplacement for an experimental weapon. The fore weapons consisted of agony phaser quad cannons, agony phaser dual heavy cannons, agony phaser dual beam bank, agony phaser dual cannons and a photon torpedo launcher. The single aft weapon was an agony phaser turret. The experimental weapon was the Terran repeating warhead launcher. The Adamant class was equipped with a shield array, deflector array, impulse engines, matter anti-matter warp core and quantum slipstream drive, enabling it to reach impulse, warp, transwarp and quantum slipstream velocities. Cloaking was an innate ability thanks to the combat-specialized cloaking device. The hull was modular and could be modified at shipyards operated by New Romulus Shipyards, Klingon Defense Force Order of Builders and Starfleet Shipyards Operations at Alliance facilities across the Milky Way Galaxy. Bridge officer stations beyond the commanding officer allowed for a commander pulling double duty as tactical officer and intelligence officer, a pair of lieutenant commanders of any department, a lieutenant doubling as officer of any department and temporal operative and an ensign of any department. The Adamant class could equip dual cannons. As an intel starship, it carried active sensor arrays that could gather intelligence and expose vulnerabilities in hostile targets. As a type of raider, specifically a heavy raider, ships of the class were capable of rapid movements known as raider flanking. A battle-hardened raider of this class benefited from precise weapon systems, tactical maneuvering, enhanced weapon systems, enhanced weapon banks and the wild weasel starship trait. This trait enabled an Adamant to escape enemies' notice when engaging in evasive maneuvers and launching the shuttlecraft Wild Weasel.
