For other uses, see Aegis.

In the Kelvin timeline, the Aegis-class was a type of Federation starship active in the 23rd century, in service to Starfleet in the 2250s decade.

The maximum speed of these vessels was at least warp 8, and they were armed with at least six phaser banks and two photon torpedo launchers. Their overall design was similar to that of the Constitution-class vessels, including the USS Enterprise, with the exception that the warp nacelles were lower and more closely placed to the body of the ship, a fact that was reinforced during the destruction of the Enterprise during the Battle of Altamid, where the warp nacelles were easily severed from the rest of the ship.
