Aelas system

Astrometric image of the Aelas system.

The Aelas system was a star system located in the Vendor sector of the Alpha Centauri sector block, Beta Quadrant. Although it was surrounded by the Romulan Star Empire, the system was independent. The fourth planet was home to the Aelasan species. (STO - "Romulan Mystery" mission: "Saturday's Child")

Planets and local bodiesEdit

The Aelas system consisted of a blue primary star and four planets. The system contained an asteroid belt rich in minerals. Aelas IV was major source of topaline in the quadrant. A small, white dust cloud was in the vicinity of the ringed planet Aelas IV.

In 2409, the asteroid Sky Demon was on a collision course with Aelas IV but destroyed before impacting. (STO - "Romulan Mystery" mission: "Saturday's Child")

In the 22nd century, the system was the home to the technologically advanced Aelasans. Their warlike ways threatened to destroy their culture. King Aelas convinced the Aelasans to abandon most of their technology but they remained in contact with interstellar cultures. In the subsequent centuries, the system was not conquered by the Romulans. Starfleet believed the Romulans were afraid of hidden Aelasan defenses.

In 2409, the Aelasans allied with the Federation, and Admiral T'nae expressed hope Aelas would join the Federation someday. (STO - "Romulan Mystery" mission: "Saturday's Child")
