Aex Rotherot was a Human, born in the 2240s decade. Rotherot served as a Starfleet officer during the mid-to-late 23rd century. Early in his Starfleet career, Rotherot served aboard a Miranda-class starship, and later expressed a sentimental attachment to that type of vessel. (TOS video game: Starfleet Academy Starship Bridge Simulator)
Rotherot, along with James T. Kirk and others of his crew, used to stage special events for several Starfleet Academy Command School openings, namely a "terrorist" assault. He didn't want to begin his speech before Kirk arrived, as Kirk never wanted to miss the show. (TOS novelization: Starfleet Academy)

Rotherot's age was given in the game as 42, and place of birth given as the Martian Colonies in his personnel dossier for the 1994 Super Nintendo version of the game. In that version, as well as the Sega 32X edition, his name was spelled Alex. It also appears the console version was set slightly before Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, since Kirk was still a rear admiral, and Rotherot shown to be a commander and teacher.
In the official credits, the PC version of the game and the novelization, his name was spelled without the "l," and pronounced "Ay-ex."
The PC version of the game was set after Star Trek V: The Final Frontier, and at least five years before Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country, when Rotherot was a captain and the commandant of the Academy. In that time period, Kirk was a captain, and Sulu was soon due to take command of the USS Excelsior.
Rotherot was played by actor Christopher Weeks.
