Memory Beta, non-canon Star Trek Wiki

"After the Storm" was a Star Trek Online short story by Katherine Bankson, appearing in Star Trek Magazine #183 UK/#56 US in April 2016. It was the 17th of 20 stories set in the STO continuity that were published in the magazine between 2012 and 2016, the fourth of five by Bankson. This story focused on Captain Nog and Tiaru Jarok in the year 2410.

Description[]

The Iconian War is over at last, but with their own priorities and a bloody history, can the Federation, the Klingon Empire, and the Romulan Republic find the strength to remain allies?

Summary[]

Log entries[]

Personal log, Captain Nog
Commander Jarok is bordering on impossible. I'm not sure I've spoken much about her before. I was introduced to her as the Captain of the Lleiset, the Romulan Republic flagship. Through Chief O'Brien I found out she is the daughter of Alidar Jarok, a Romulan Admiral who contacted the Enterprise-D hoping to avoid a full-scale war, and who died in exile. Given her father's opposition to the Tal Shiar, it isn't a surprise she chose to join D'Tan's new republic.
During the war with the Iconians I thought she was a reasonable voice. And when the war ended and we were assigned to work together, I was excited at the prospect. But as the weeks have dragged on we have been disagreeing over how to conduct salvage and recovery operations. The crews are exhausted, and nerves are frayed. But if her chief engineer tries one more time to... but cleaning up has been harder. I've invited Jarok aboard the Chimera so we can resolve some of the details. I hope we'll be able to come to some agreement.
