An Agonite space eagle was a type of police cruiser starship crewed by Agonites in service to the Agoni police force in the Galaxy T-21 region of the galaxy's Alpha or Beta Quadrant.

Specifications[]

Inspired by the Agonites' avianoid physiology, this type of vessel looked remarkably like an eagle. The craft was capable of atmospheric flight and planetary landings. Its wings could "flap" during battle, shifting configurations like a bird in flight, and its beak could open. However, the craft did not have shields, leaving it susceptible to structural damage from phaser fire.

The vessel's bridge, situated between the eagle's "eyes", had four manned consoles, a large central viewscreen, and the two oval observation ports. A hangar deck accessible through the beak utilized grapplers to secure shuttles. A boarding ramp was used for egress when landed, resting on its two hind "legs".

Service history[]

In the year 2266, the Starfleet starship USS Enterprise encountered and disabled a space eagle. Boarding her, landing parties discovered aggressive Agonites and rescued humanoids like Takku who claimed to have been wrongly imprisoned aboard the eagle.

However, the crew of the eagle called for reinforcements. A fleet of Agonite space eagles tracked the Enterprise to a nearby planet and swarmed around the starship. Captain James T. Kirk and Lieutenant Hurst landed their Pursuit 1 space bug in the hangar deck of the lead vessel. Roggaf explained that Kirk had inadvertently freed dozens of convicted criminals, some awaiting the death penalty, and that the eagles were police vessels. Kirk and Hurst returned to the planet and tricked the criminals into disarming, so that they could be led in restraints aboard an eagle that had landed nearby. (TOS comic: "The Eagles Have Landed")
