Memory Beta, non-canon Star Trek Wiki

In the mirror universe, the agony phaser was a 25th century Terran Empire weapon technology, a directed energy weapons emitter used in starship-based and handheld weapons in the 2410s decade. Compared to primary universe phaser weapons, the agony phaser had a chance to briefly hold ground combatants, disabled enemy ships and cause damage over time. History and specifics[]

Agony phasers took their name from the agony booth, a Terran torturing device that had been modified into the agonizer booth by the 25th century. (STO - Terran Gambit mission: "Firewall")

They were an alternative to Terran linked weapons. (ST video game: Star Trek Online)

In the 2410s, weapons of this type were acquired by the Khitomer Alliance. Agony phasers fired orange beams with yellow highlights, mimicking prime phasers. This was around the time of Terran Emperor Wesley Crusher's quest to control the Other, a powerful extragalactic entity. (STO - Terran Gambit mission: "Red Shift")

Agony phasers were standard equipment aboard starships of Imperial Starfleet in 2411, including the Adamant-class heavy raider, Earhart and Engle-class strike wing escorts, Lexington-class dreadnought cruiser, Cygnus-class battlecruiser and the Trailblazer-class science warship.
