Ajir was a star system located in the Bajor sector of the galaxy's Alpha Quadrant. The Ajir system contained a number of worlds, including ninth planet Ajir IX.
History and specifics[]
In the 2320s, the Ajir system was known to the Cardassian Union. In a report, the system consisted of a single star, unremarkable worlds of ice and rock and a large cometary debris zone. There were no known inhabitants.
In 2323, Ajir was the site of battle—first between a Tzenkethi marauder and the Bajoran Republic warships Clarion and Glyhrond, and then those three ships were set upon by two Cardassian Union warships. The Cardassian ships ended up destroying the Bajorans and capturing the Tzenkethi.
In 2328, Grek and Syjin discovered the remains of the Clarion on Ajir IX's moon. (TLE - Terok Nor novel: Day of the Vipers)
Alternate timeline[]
In an alternate timeline in which Khan Noonien Singh won the Eugenics Wars, the Khanate Earthfleet warship Defiance apprehended the Bajoran Perikian-class rebel ship Meru in the Ajir system in June 2376, capturing its crew and destroying the disabled vessel. Coincidentally, the Defiance also discovered the long-lost SS Botany Bay nearby. (ST - Myriad Universes novella: Seeds of Dissent)
