The Akif-class was one of the early series of D7-class Klingon battlecruiser starships in use around the time of the 23rd century. Many of these vessels were transferred to the service of the Romulan Star Empire as a result of a mid-23rd century alliance between the two powers. (TOS - Rihannsu novel: The Romulan Way)
This ship type was also known as the Khenn class. (STO - Agents of Yesterday mission: "In the Shadow of Cestus")
Service history and specifics[]
Khre'Riov Ael t'Rllaillieu considered the Akif-class poor in comparison to the Vas Hatham-class warbird, as they were built by the lowest bidder, but admitted that they had good weapons. (TOS - Rihannsu novel: My Enemy, My Ally)
- Diane Duane and Peter Morwood's writing mentions this class several times in reference to a predecessor to the K't'inga-class, but few vessels were explicitly mentioned as belonging to this class. These include Charvanek's triad in "The Enterprise Incident".
Around 2270, Khenn cruisers engaged Starfleet and Gorn ships at Edren IV. (STO - Agents of Yesterday mission: "In the Shadow of Cestus")
Khenn-class cruisers fought Chulak's doomsday machine provided by 29th century Na'kuhl after the time travelers lost control over it. (STO - Yesterday's War mission: "The Core of the Matter")
