Akira Sulu was a Human Starfleet officer in the early 25th century. A direct descendant of Hikaru Sulu, he always dreamed of serving aboard a starship as his ancestors did. (ST video game: Star Trek Online)

Biography[]
Akira Sulu was assigned to several starships through his career, including USS Lexington and USS Archer.
After serving as first officer of Earth Spacedock as a commander, in 2409 he was promoted to captain and briefly commanded the USS Poseidon before returning to ESD. (STO - Klingon War mission: "Welcome to Earth Spacedock")

Akira Sulu was formerly a mission giver for several daily missions, "Defend the Sirius Sector Block", "Defend the Regulus Sector Block", and "Defend the Pi Canis Sector Block", but these missions were removed in mid-2012's "Season 6: Under Siege" update. Sulu is now a non-interactable NPC.
Sulu was also replaced by an Undine in the now-removed multiplayer mission "Terradome".

Former Cryptic Studios lead writer Christine Thompson stated on Twitter that her intent was that Sulu was the commanding officer of Earth Spacedock and chief of staff to Fleet Admiral Jorel Quinn. This is not stated in-game.
