Memory Beta, non-canon Star Trek Wiki

The Alajians were the inhabitants of Alaj, a planet somewhere in the galaxy's Alpha or Beta Quadrants in the same area as the planets Vorgon, Ta'Trosha IV, as well as neighboring the home of the Alajians' close relatives and enemies, the Etolosans.

History and specifics[]

By the later 2350s decade, they had joined the United Federation of Planets but largely kept to themselves until they recalled their ambassador seven years later after a time of radical political changes.

Curister Zeila, a female Alajian was described as having a cordial face with a pronounced facial structure, prominent cheekbones and brow, features like a finely chiseled statue, ruddy complexion, a short muzzle formed by a delicate nose blending into the outward curve of the upper lip and a striking head of red and black spiked hair. Common males were usually slender, with an average height of seven feet and smooth-faced in contrast to the usually bearded Etolosans. The species was in general considered as physically imposing. Both sexes wore extravagant clothing and ornamentation with ubiquitous jewelry.

Besides the Etolosans, the Bekeem dissidents were another offshoot of this culture. (TNG novel: Exiles)
