The Albatros D-III was a type of early-20th century biplane aircraft that was deployed by the German Air Force and saw combat during World War I.

In 2285, a holographic projector generated holograms of an Albatros D-III and a Spad 7 for a video game at a bar in San Francisco. Dr. Leonard McCoy observed as gamers controlled the planets in a mock dogfight. The Albatros was unprepared when the Spad 7 maneuvered behind and crippled it. The Albatros dissolved shortly before crashing on the bar floor. (TOS novelization: The Search for Spock)
