The Alerians are an alien culture originally from the planet Aleriad.
History and specifics[]
They appear as bald humanoids, with pointed ears, brow protrusions and oily greenish-brownish golden skin. Their society is divided into hundreds if not thousands of religious sects and was on a technological level similar to Earth in the late 18th century, knowing steam power, radio, and simple projectile weapons. However, their development had been deeply influenced by illegal Orion smuggling activities of contraband technology to their world. They are highly intelligent, fast learning and psionics whose largest part of communication is non-verbal.
In 2270, the United Federation of Planets was asked to help evacuate their planet's population because a planetary debris field in the system would soon impact Aleriad. (FASA RPG module: Denial of Destiny)
