Aliens & Artifacts is a real-world reference work detailing the production of various alien species and technology seen in the four live-action Star Trek series produced up to that time — TOS, TNG, DS9, and VOY — accompanied with some in-universe information. The book was co-written by makeup supervisor Michael Westmore, property master Alan Sims, makeup artist Bradley M. Look, and Star Trek Cookbook coauthor William J. Birns.
