The Alita-class of ships entered service in the year 2410. These vessels were based upon the highly successful Armitage-class design to which the new Alita-class have been built from the ground up to more efficiently combat the Iconian threat. The vessels crewed 200 officers and featured a hangar bay fitted with a wing of Peregrine-class attack fighters and Destabilized Tachyon Emitters. This class was a sub class on the Akira-class heavy escort lineage since it was based on the Armitage-class heavy escort carrier. Having a modular spaceframe, its sections (saucer, hill, pylons and nacelles) could be exchanged with counterparts from other Akira-based (sub-) classes: Akira-class, Armitage-class and Thunderchild-class, as well as the Norway-class subclass Oslo and the Steamrunner-class subclass Zephyr.

Background[]
Following the tradition of its predecessors, the Armitage-class and the Akira-class, The Alita-class and its prototype are named for the anime and manga series Battle Angel Alita.
