- TOS episode & Star Trek 8 novelization: Catspaw – When Kirk attempted to reconcile his artificial environment, a huge large black cat came to mind, not fully recalling that it was an animal that Sylvia transmuted into on Pyris VII.

Background[]
- The title was a quote from Chapter 41 of Moby Dick.
- Q claimed responsibility for creating the Nexus.
- Q said it was the first time he'd met Kirk. Assuming he wasn't lying, he and Trelane later manipulated Kirk in the 2260s, during his first five-year mission, in ST - Unlimited comic: "An Infinite Jest", though Kirk wouldn't have recalled those events.
