Background[]
Catullan encounter[]
- The three crewmembers aboard the Catullan vessel were modeled after Adam, Mavig and Doctor Sevrin from TOS episode: "The Way to Eden", but the only character from that episode who was identified as Catullan was Tongo Rad. Sevrin and the character modeled after him are obviously Tiburonian, and Mavig and Adam were humanoids of unspecified race. Tongo Rad did not have a character modeled after him, and the Mavig and Adam characters looked Human and did not seem to have Catullan features, which on Tongo Rad seemed to be brightly colored hair and bushy eyebrows, and prominent forehead. Both Adam and the Adam character did have unusual hairlines which may or may not have indicated similar alien lineage.
- The Catullan scout ship had design cues calling back to the original version of the Aurora.
Sherlock Holmes[]
- Although the story does not refer to the holoprogram by the full name used in canon, Sherlock Holmes Program 3A, they do note that it is the same scenario, albeit with edits having been made either to the program or to the overall holodeck operating system to disallow the creation of sentience.
