History[edit | edit source]
Alpha Proxima II was established as a Federation colony in 2189 by the colony ship SS Esperanza, commanded by Captain Bernabe Posada.
In 2266, a plague swept the planet, sparked by the uncovering of one of the Malkus Artifacts. This plague struck the entire governing council, necessitating the implementation of martial law by Starfleet Commodore Matthew Decker. (TOS - The Brave and the Bold, Book One novella: The First Artifact)
In the late 26th century, Alpha Proxima II was still a Federation planet, and was considered as a place to temporarily house Kelvan refugees from the Andromeda Galaxy. (TOS - Strange New Worlds 9 short story: "Gone Native")
Politics[edit | edit source]
The capital of Alpha Proxima II is Sierra City. The government consists of a planetary council, headed by a Chief Representative.
Major industries include radioactive ore mining, a variety of agriculture, and one of the largest sea farming operations in the entire Federation.
Planetary Information[edit | edit source]
- Some sources note the planet has a 30-hour day. The Federation FASA supplement mentions a 27-hour day.
Location[edit | edit source]
Geography[edit | edit source]
Large portions of Alpha Proxima II were once uninhabitable due to temperatures below human tolerance. However, by the mid-23rd century, the climate had grown warmer, extending habitable zones. Pirenne's Peak is located here.
