The Alphans were a civilization native to Alpha Carinae in Sector 221-G. (NF novel: Martyr)

History and specifics[]

Culture and appearance[]

In the 2370s decade, the Alphans were converted to Xantism by the Redeemers, who appointed a high priest that ruled as a dictator. They were a somewhat barbaric race, large, muscled, and rather savage, and they lived in fear of the Redeemers.

A prophecy foretold the coming of a savior that "would come from air and return to air". This depiction seemed to apply to the coming of Mackenzie Calhoun and the USS Excalibur in the year 2374, a fact that would lead them to rebel against the Redeemers and murder the High Priest.

Fate[]

After spilling the blood of their appointed high priest they became victims of the Redeemer virus. The first victims were the four Alphans who had murdered the high priest, and the virus then spread all over the planet through air and water. Within twenty-four hours, half of the Alphan population was infected by the disease. (NF novel: Martyr)
