Altar was a type of language used in or around the Federation.

This language is possibly named for originating in or around the constellation Ara, translated as the "Altar", and specifically could be from the Altar star system.

History and specifics[]

Altar was heard on the starship USS Enterprise in the year 2275, when the Enterprise experimented with a new inversion drive designed to take a starship across intergalactic space. (TOS novel: The Wounded Sky)
