The Andorian Empire-in-Exile was a short lived state that was declared on Alrond in 2163 by newly elect Governor Lecheb sh'Makesh as a defiance to Federation authority.
History[]
On March 24, 2163, the results for the gubernatorial elections on Alrond colony, a planet in the Andor system came in. Lecheb sh'Makesh had won the elections and became the Governor of Alrond. Just as she promised during the campaign, sh'Makesh called for her colony to secede from the United Federation of Planets and declare itself the seat of the Andorian Empire-in-exile. The governor had the commanders of the Alrondian defense fleet at her side, but the new nation was content to keep it to itself. (ENT - Rise of the Federation novel: A Choice of Futures)
In the following months, the Alrondian government wished to pursue a non-aggressive stand, Governor sh'Makesh became more and more outspoken against the Federation and its policies, and with the approach of the presidential election in 2164 she became downright confrontational, calling for the dismantlement of the Articles of the Federation. The young state met its end in 2165, after a radical movment called the Keepers of the Throne began to terrorize and murder the sizable Arkenite population living on Alrond. Governor sh'Makesh tried to reign in the radicals, but soon they made an attempt on her life that left her hospitalized. A new governor was inducted, who called for Starfleet aid in dealing with the Keepers of the Throne, and renewed Alrond's commitment to the Andorian Empire and the Federation.
