Andorian spice bread.
Andorian spice bread was a dark brown Andorian foodstuff, a bread flavored with spice. Its popularity had spread throughout and beyond the boundaries of the Federation in the galaxy's Alpha or Beta Quadrant in the 24th century. (STA novel: Oblivion; DSC novel: Dead Endless)
History and specifics[]
It was baked into a snowflake pattern, allowing pieces to be torn off easily for sharing. When all that was left was the center, custom was that one person would offer it as a sign of respect to another. As a sweet bread, it paired well with spiced enyak's milk and fruit, as well as stew. At diplomatic functions, it would be set on a platter as a centerpiece. (ST reference: The Star Trek Cookbook)
In 2256, Captain Deb Underwood enjoyed her Andorian spice bread toasted. She had a habit of eating it in her ready room aboard the USS Glenn, then sweeping the crumbs on the floor. (DSC novel: Dead Endless)
In 2333, Jean-Luc Picard and Guinan shared a loaf aboard an Anjottu freighter. (STA novel: Oblivion)
