Andre "Bernie" Bryce was a human Starfleet science officer who served aboard the USS Gallant in the early 2280s, under the command of Captain Bearclaw. His daughter was Nancy Bryce, a crew member aboard the USS Enterprise (NCC-1701).
Bryce's career before the destruction of the Gallant remains unknown. During the Gallant's patrol of the Klingon Neutral Zone near the Gamma Hydra system on Stardate 8141.5, Bryce was unable to detect the Klingon sneak attack that destroyed the Gallant.
Captain Bearclaw's son, William, would long hold Bryce responsible for his father's death. This grudge carried over to Bryce's daughter, Nancy, when both were posted aboard the Enterprise. (TOS comic #1: "The Wormhole Connection")
