Lieutenant Commander Andre Charvat was a male Human in Starfleet and was the assistant chief science officer aboard the USS Enterprise in 2269.

Charvat was a fan of 20th century detective fiction, and preferred novels by Dashiell Hammett over those of Raymond Chandler.

History[]

When Andre Charvat was at Starfleet Academy, one of his instructors was Professor James Atheling, who inspired Charvat to teach at the Academy after graduation instead of signing aboard a starship. After many years of teaching, Charvat applied for starship service and was assigned aboard the Enterprise.

In 2269, Charvat accompanied Atheling, Spock and a rescue team in three shuttlecraft sent to rescue Captain James T. Kirk on the surface of the planet Anomaly. Charvat became stranded on the planet, chosen as one of six people whose memories were explored by the telepathic Arivne, along with Atheling, Spock, Leonard McCoy, Sharon Follett and Rosaly Ybarra. His memories included turning in a fellow Academy classmate for cheating, then dealing with guilt after the man committed suicide the next day. (TOS novel: Planet of Judgment)
