For other uses, see Andrea.

Andrea IV was a planet, the fourth planet of the Andrea system, and was located in the galaxy's Alpha or Beta Quadrant. It is the homeworld of the Andrean civilization.

Specifics[]

It appears green from orbit and has a green-colored sky. About 200 Andreans inhabited one centralized village. A variable solar energy field enveloped the planet, unusual for its distance to its star. One very large, ringed moon was visible from the surface.

History[]

Circa 22,000 BCE, Andreans' unique perception of time gave them knowledge that a landing party from the Federation starship USS Enterprise would arrive in the future to prevent a deadly cloud of Vega radiation from contaminating the planet's atmosphere. The natives built large stone statues of James T. Kirk, Spock and Leonard McCoy so that their descendants would not forget them, and began underground construction of a planetary defense system to be powered by energy amassed over the millennia by large number of massive solar energy collectors.

In 2273, the Enterprise orbited Andrea IV as foreseen. Spock investigated the planet's unusual solar energy field and discovered the network of energy collectors. After mind melding with an Andrean, he learned about the species' temporal perception and how to activate the defense system, then safely dispersed the radiation cloud. (TOS comic: "Tomorrow or Yesterday")
