Andrea Manning was a 23rd century Human woman.

Biography[]

At some point by the early 2270s decade, Manning fell in love with Montgomery Scott, but he did not reciprocate her feelings. Scorned, she came to strongly resent him and his relationships with Carolyn Palamas and Mira Romaine.

During the 2270s decade, Manning assisted Federation psychiatrist Carl Wentworth at a clinic on Andronicus. Wentworth learned mental manipulation techniques and without her knowledge taught her how to turn imagination into reality. She could subconsciously channel electrical energy from her thoughts into objects and entities that appeared to have substance.

In the year 2273, Manning was unexpectedly reunited with Scott aboard the starship USS Enterprise. His chilly reception rekindled her anger, and she subconsciously lashed out in vengeance to terrorize him, pulling frightening monsters out of Scott's childhood memories to threaten him. The Black Annis witch, a direach, and finally the Loch Ness Monster attacked. When she blacked out from drinking too much Saurian brandy, the creatures disappeared. To cut off her source of inspiration, Spock erased Scott's memories of the frightening creatures with a mind meld and Leonard McCoy sedated him. Sedating her finally ended the crisis, and she was transferred to a rehabilitation facility. (TOS comic: "... Like a Woman Scorned!")
