Angomans are an ancient race of intelligent gorillas from the planet Angoma.

Background[]

Angomans were proud of their history as a warrior race, but faded over time into more pacifistic people. Although they maintained a military in the 23rd century, King Kut described his people as being afraid of their own shadows. They sought alliances for protection against other aggressive races in the sector.

They lived in small, simple huts, yet were capable of complex architecture such as the building of a large stadium. They were omnivorous.

In 2266, Angomans provided gracious hospitality to a landing party from the USS Enterprise. They had been left frightened and superstitious after a series of mysterious disappearances, but Captain James T. Kirk solved the mystery and recovered the missing Angomans. In return, his crew were treated to a celebration. (TOS comic: "Beware the Beast")
