The Anjiri are a reptiloid alien culture native to a small planet in the Anjiri-Nykkus system.

History and specifics[]

They were arch enemies of their neighbours, the Nykkus as both peoples comitted atrocities and piracy against each other and held little regard for the others lifes. When James T. Kirk was sent by the United Federation of Planets to negotiate a truth between the two, the Federation scientists eventually found out that both Anjiri and Nykkus are not cousin species but rather two co-sexes of the same species as the females of both species, who much resemble each other, are able to lay eggs for both variants.

The temperature of the species eggs at birth influences the intelligence of the hatchlings and the Anjiri had held the stronger and fiercer Nykkus cold-born to keep them slow-witted and docile. When the Anjiri accidentally created warm-born, smarter Nykkus, these rebelled against their masters spawning the age-long conflict.

Both species are described as being tall, with scales, round and hairless heads, and having snouts with scimitar teeth. The Anjiri are however more slender and elegant, likened to gekkos. The females often have Heads with elegant crests and tend to be unpredictable and quick tempered, the Nykkus even more so than the Anjiri.

Both species are technologically advanced, good pilots and Females hold the dominant positions. They once spoke the same language, which is heavily formed by their adjacent body movements. (TOS - The Captain's Table novel: War Dragons)
