The Antares class was a 24th century Corvallen starship type, a freighter class in commercial service in the 2360s decade. (TNG episode: "Face of the Enemy")

Service history and specifics[]

The Corvallens shared starship designs with other species as early as the 23rd century. (ST video game: Fleet Command)

In the 24th century, shared starship designs were not uncommon in the galaxy's Alpha and Beta Quadrants, and occasionally beyond. The Corvallen freighter and the Petarian ship SS Xhosa were both identified as Antares-class starships but looked wildly dissimilar. The Xhosa belonged to one type of Antares-class freighters, while other ships resembled the Corvallen freighter more. The latter group included the Angosian's transport vessel. In 2365, Secretary Kushell of the Legation of Unity commanded a brown, sublight Antares-class vessel during the "Okona incident". Kushell's security vessel was a match for Atlec leader Debin's Atlec security vessel but outclassed by a Federation Starfleet Galaxy-class explorer, the USS Enterprise-D. In 2366, the Angosian Augment soldier Roga Danar commandeered an unarmed Angosian police shuttle during his escape from prison on Lunar V. Danar nearly outwitted the Enterprise-D crew. (TNG episode: "The Hunted")

In 2369, the Dorian, under the command of Captain Talmadge, served as transport ship for the Lumerian diplomat Ves Alkar. (TNG episode: "Man of the People")

In 2370, the Skrreeans, refugees from the Gamma Quadrant, operated a ship of this class. It was destroyed near the Bajoran wormhole. (DS9 episode: "Sanctuary")
