A friendly reminder regarding spoilers! At present the expanded Trek universe is in a period of major upheaval with the continuations of Discovery and Prodigy, the advent of new eras in gaming with the Star Trek Adventures RPG, Star Trek: Infinite and Star Trek Online, as well as other post-57th Anniversary publications such as the ongoing IDW Star Trek comic and spin-off Star Trek: Defiant. Therefore, please be courteous to other users who may not be aware of current developments by using the {{spoiler}}, {{spoilers}} OR {{majorspoiler}} tags when adding new information from sources less than six months old (even if it is minor info). For other uses, see Anton.
See Manning for other articles with titles that contain, either by relationship or by coincidence, this character's surname.

Anton Manning was a 23rd century Human individual, a career officer in the Federation's Starfleet.

Manning's specialty in the 2320s decades was as a starship commanding officer. In the year 2329, Manning was the captain of a Starfleet vessel. In that year he attended the betrothal ceremony of Spock and Saavik, accompanied by his flight controller, Lieutenant Jean-Luc Picard. (TOS novel: Vulcan's Heart)

Given the timing of Picard's service under Manning it is likely that he commanded the USS Reliant, per TNG episode: "The Measure of a Man", PIC episode: "Broken Pieces" and background/promotional material for Star Trek: Picard.
