Apatosaurus was a species of sauropod dinosaur indigenous to planet Earth millions of years ago during the Jurassic period.
Ensign Emmendorf wondered if the family of titanosaurs he and the rest of the USS Enterprise's landing party came across were Brontosaurs. Lieutenant Dale Bannon initially suggested they were Apatosaurus but he quickly rejected this as they were in the late-Cretaceous rather than the Jurassic. (TOS novel: First Frontier)
