Arachnian

An Arachnian.

The Arachnians were the dominant animal lifeform on the planet Arachnae.

History and specifics[]

Arachnians

Arachnians.

Arachnians resembled a cross between an ant and a tarantula. They were covered in a golden yellow fur, had six legs, and sharp mandibles. They were about the size of a Human.

Towards the end of the 2260s decade, the planet Arachnae's star system was predicted, due to galaxy drift, to pass into the Romulan Neutral Zone. The Federation was concerned that, if there were a sentient race living on the world, they would be cut off from galactic civilization. The Starfleet starship USS Enterprise was dispatched with xenobiology experts to determine if the Arachnians were sentient. After a disastrous landing party visit to the world, it was determined these were not intelligent beings. (TOS novel: Vulcan!)
