The Archernar IV contact station was a Federation outpost, a K-class space station orbiting Archernar IV in the Alpha Quadrant in the 2260s.
Specifics[]
As a platform from which to observe and contact the Archernarian insectoid species, the station also managed the Archernar airlock station, a discrete observation post and shuttle bay on the world-ship planet Archernar IV. Elizabeth Cassady commanded a staff of 12. (TOS comic: "Mission's End, Issue 2")

Service history[]
The observation post was constructed, prior to the orbital station's installation, in 2264. For six months, Captain Cassady commanded a survey team to discreetly study the world and its inhabitants. (TOS comic: "Mission's End, Issue 1")
Between 2264 and 2270, the station was placed in orbit and the worldship's shuttle bay was built.
In 2270, the starship USS Enterprise arrived at Archernar IV for a ceremony to make Archernar IV a Federation Protectorate. Unfortunately, the high administrator's son Kel-M started a rebellion during the ceremony. He fired the worldship's Omega-weapon at the station. The station was obliterated, killing 11 people.
The station's explosion produced a quantum singularity. James T. Kirk nominated Montgomery Scott for a Pentares Ribbon of Commendation when Scott repelled the singularity away from the system so it did not destroy Archernar IV. (TOS comic: "Mission's End, Issue 2")
The casualties included Antook, Montrose and Reid. (TOS - Mission's End comic: "Issue 4")
