Argus was a 23rd century Human man, leader of a lost Earth colony on the planet Fortenue.

Biography[]

By the 2270s, Argus was chief of the Omega Level II clan on Fortenue and served as High Captain of the colony.

In the year 2279, Argus's daughter, the Lady Dyana, brought an unconscious Spock back to their castle, where he recovered under Argus's authority. Spock awoke with amnesia, and he and Dyanna quickly fell in love. When they sneaked away from her handmaidens, violating a law in their culture, Argus was furious. He believed Spock betrayed his trust, and resolved to have the Vulcan killed in a manner that wouldn't violate colony customs.

Soon, Argus met with Vice-Admiral James T. Kirk and Doctor Leonard McCoy, who'd arrived searching for their missing crew, and hosted a meal for them. Argus spiked Kirk's mead with nectar of the Lotus flower, leaving Kirk in a suggestible, manipulable state. Kirk assumed the role of Black Knight and was sent to challenge Spock, resulting in a deadly trial by combat between the two. But Kirk's mind cleared, and Spock overcame his amnesia. When Dyana chose to stand by Spock, insisting she be killed as well, if that was the penalty for loving him, Argus demanded that his knights kill both of them. Before the order could be carried out, however, Montgomery Scott and security guards materialized in front of them with phasers drawn.

Argus refused Federation aid and assistance for his colony, and the starship USS Enterprise departed the system. (TOS comic: "Goodbye to Spock")
