The Armstrong (NCC-1701/7) was a class F shuttlecraft in service to Starfleet in the 23rd century. The shuttle was assigned to the Federation starship USS Enterprise in 2270.

Service historyEdit

In 2270, the Armstrong was launched on a mission to explore the surface of Vehtora IV, with a crew consisting of James T. Kirk, Montgomery Scott, Leonard McCoy, Pavel Chekov, Anthropologist Doctor Bordell, and security officer Lieutenant Jameson. During the flight, a planet-wide electronic dampening field activated and disabled the ship's power. As it crashed in a jungle on the surface, the port nacelle sheared off.

Soon they were attacked by arrows shot by a tribe of humanoid Xhosa, who killed Jameson and injured Chekov. The crew retreated into the shuttle, but Xhosa drew them out by setting a large fire around the shuttle's perimeter. Survivors were beamed back aboard the Enterprise once Spock disabled the planet's dampening field. (TOS - Unlimited comic: "As Flies to Wanton Boys")

This Armstrong was a successor to the Armstrong, which was destroyed in 2267. (TOS - Mere Anarchy eBook: The Centre Cannot Hold)
