Artemis IX was an airless, high-gravity planet in the Artemis system. In 2376, a million-year old alien crystal technology was discovered on Artemis IX, and the USS da Vinci was assigned to study it. While there, the Starfleet Corps of Engineers team were attacked by Androssi raiders wanting to take the technology for themselves. The da Vinci was able to fend them off and, once determining the technology threatened the inhabited worlds of the system, managed to deactivate it.
