Ashanté Phiri was female human in the 24th century. A native of Cestus III, she was short, dark-skinned woman who wore her hair in waist-length braids.
Phiri worked as an intern on Nanietta Bacco's campaign for representative of Pike City's Fifth District, during which time she met and began her relationship with Fred MacDougan. After ten years of working together, the two married, after a strong push from Bacco.
After serving in various positions for many years, Phiri worked as Bacco's political adviser during her time as governor of Cestus III, and during her campaign for President of the United Federation of Planets. During the Borg Invasion of 2381, Phiri and Dogayn 418 were tasked by Bacco to draft an executive order allowing Starfleet vessels to commandeer civilian antimatter resources. (ST - Destiny novel: Gods of Night)
After the death of Esperanza Piñiero in 2384, Phiri became President Bacco's new Chief of Staff. (ST - The Fall novel: Revelation and Dust)
