Entaba asteroid base

The asteroid base in the Entaban system.

This asteroid base was a 25th century Talaxian asteroid colony located in the Entaba star system in the Kotaba sector of the galaxy's Delta Quadrant. In the 2410s decade, the colony was led by Federation Ambassador Neelix. (STO - Delta Quadrant mission: "Reunion")

History and specifics[]

In the 2370s, Dexa's group of Talaxians lived in an Talaxian asteroid colony far away from Talax. Neelix, morale officer and chef aboard the Federation starship USS Voyager, joined the colony after he helped defend it from the alien miner Commander Nocona and his forces in the year 2377. (VOY episode: "Homestead")

This place adopted the name New Talax. (VOY novel: Unworthy)

At some point, these Talaxians moved to an asteroid base in the Entabans' system. This colony was larger and became home to 3000 Talaxians. Satellites were arranged around the asteroid. The colony was built both on the surface and interior of the asteroid.

By 2410, trade ships and survey ships were searching for a planet to put down roots. When the Khitomer Alliance established contact with Neelix, the Alliance hoped to use its experience in helping settle New Romulus to aid in the Talaxian colonization effort. Rear Admiral Tuvok led Voyager on a mission to contact Neelix and assist. Kazon ships attacked the Talaxian satellites and then Voyager but were repelled by Tuvok's Alliance escort.

The Talaxian convoy departed for New Talax V in the New Talax system. Upon arrival, the fleet found that the class M planet's orbit was poisoned by the Malon. The Alliance repelled the Malon and cleared the pockets of theta radiation, allowing the colonization to proceed. (STO - Delta Quadrant mission: "Reunion")

In the aftermath, a crew maintained the asteroid base in the Entaba system. Neelix proposed it as a site for negotiations between Gaul, leader of the Vaadwaur Supremacy. Gaul sabotaged the diplomatic effort. The Vaadwaur killed several people aboard the asteroid base but were forced to flee when the Alliance and the Turei fought back. (STO - Delta Quadrant mission: "All That Glitters")
