Augments faction emblem

Emblem insignia of the Augments.

In the Kelvin timeline, the Augments faction was an emergent interstellar state in the galaxy's Beta Quadrant created in the year 2262 when Khan Noonien Singh fled from confinement and gathered his disciples from the Botany Bay. (ST video game: Fleet Command)

History[]

The Augment group of Khan Noonien Singh was recovered by Section 31 at some point after 2258. Following Khan's bloody insurrection against Admiral Alexander Marcus in 2259, Khan and his followers were returned to cryo-sleep. (TOS movie & novelization: Star Trek Into Darkness)

Khan & Atrocitus

The Augments escape.

Khan and his "family" were awoken briefly in 2262. Khan was turned into a Red Lantern by a power ring. He met Atrocitus, leader of the Red Lantern Corps, when they tried to escape. The prison break was stopped by the USS Enterprise crew and members of the Green Lantern Corps. (TOS - Stranger Worlds comic: "Issue 3")

Soon after, Khan was transferred to a starbase for research. One of the scientists, Lieutenant Marla McGivers, freed him, allowing Khan to escape. (ST video game: Fleet Command mission: "Lessons of the Past")

In that year, encrypted signals intercepted from a Federation subspace channel indicated that Khan had escaped from confinement. Starfleet and the Independent faction traveled to the Astrida and Lycia systems to investigate. (ST video game: Fleet Command "The Coming Darkness" in-game announcement panel)

Khan made contact with an Independent station commander and the artificial intelligence Maia at Home Station, and worked with them to track the Augment Joaquin. Joaquin was travelling the Neutral Zone searching for original parts of old Earth DY-1100 class personnel transports. When Khan and Joaquin reunited, they chose the Vaara Expanse as the new home for their faction. (ST video game: Fleet Command mission: "Reunions")

Joaquin hired the Independents of Home Station to collect components of the Botany Bay from the Armador system. (ST video game: Fleet Command)

Khan then partnered with Maia's team to recover the researcher who freed him, Marla McGivers, from a Klingon prison barge in the Krah'Tor system. When they arrived, Khan learned the Klingons had transferred McGivers to Vos'Keth Station. After defeating the D4-class patrol, McGivers was beamed to the brig. She convinced Khan of her support for his cause. (ST video game: Fleet Command mission: "Lessons of the Past")

Alternate timelines[]

In another permutation of the Kelvin timeline, Khan had been victorious and Augments ruled Earth from India. The vain and brutal empress kept tigers in her palace. In 2263, her forces captured Starfleet officers from different versions of the Kelvin timeline. Recognising his Vulcan strength, the empress allied with the vengeful Commander Simon Grayson, and together they murdered the other officers. (TOS - Boldly Go - IDIC comic: "Part 4")

In a mirror Kelvin timeline, the Augments fled Earth in 1996, led by peace-monger Singh. Aboard the SS Botany Bay, the Augments remained at large until the 2250s, when the Terran Empire recovered the Botany Bay. The Augments were allowed to found the Botany Bay colony on Ceti Alpha V.

Due to Terran savagery, the Augments kept the Botany Bay hidden in a magnetically-shielded cave, and outfitted it with weapons, a warp core and a quartet of warp nacelles. With the arrival and capture of the USS Enterprise by Spock, Singh collected his people and left Ceti Alpha V with the Botany Bay. (TOS - Live Evil comic: "Part 1")

Fighting the Terran Empire.

To uphold a promise made to Captain James T. Kirk of the Enterprise, Singh traveled to Vulcan, where the Botany Bay engaged the ISS Enterprise in battle with its phasers, allowing the USS Enterprise to escape. While Enterprise returned to its universe, the fate of Singh and the Botany Bay remained uncertain. (TOS - Live Evil comic: "Part 3")

Territory[]

Augments territory Kelvin

Augments faction territory.

The Augments faction occupied space between the Neutral Zone and the Klingon Empire. This territory was the location of an anomaly and known as the Vaara Expanse. (ST video game: Fleet Command mission: "Reunions") Controlled systems, from coreward to rimward:
